Lost Ship Retrospective

Reflecting on how the project went, tools I used, and what’s coming next

Last week I wrapped up Lost Ship, a sci-fi comic I had been working on since September 2018. It’s my third finished comic, and I leveled up quite a bit while working on it.

I have been reflecting on the project and how it went as I figure out what’s next. Here’s a look at the making of Lost Ship.

Reflecting on a Year of Making Comics

How it’s been going and my aspirations for the next year, plus a collection of my art from the first year

I started making comics seriously a year ago in September 2017. It was an intentional change from exploring the world of filmmaking with the hopes of being able to tell visual stories entirely on my own. I can’t believe that a year has flown by. I’ve been enjoying the process of making comics and growing as an artist. It’s been slow going at times but ultimately rewarding.

Lavender, My First 24-Hour Comic

My experiences and the outcome of attempting to make 24 pages of comics in 24 hours

I documented my experiences in the video above.

The result of the challenge is an action fantasy comic called Lavender, which can be read free online.

Read Lavender (just a heads up, there’s some violence)

Everything I learned making my first comic

Two weeks ago I published my first multi-page comic, Terminal. It took me three months to make it, and I’m proud of what I’ve made. I’ve been reflecting upon the project since finishing it, so I thought I’d share my process and what I learned.

Reflecting on 2017

Looking back on how 2017 went, and what I want to accomplish in 2018.

A year is a nice amount of time. It’s long enough to accomplish significant things in one’s life, but it’s not too long as to forget the details of it all. I believe there’s value in reflecting on a project or period of time to see what worked, what didn’t, and what can be done better the next time around.

The First Day Retrospective

Reflection on The First Day and my experience writing it.

Last week I released The First Day, my first piece of fiction that I have shared publicly. It is also my first work of interactive fiction (a.k.a. choose your own adventure story). Both had me feeling excited and nervous. Since releasing it, I feel proud about The First Day and happy with how it turned out.
